The most important facts at a glance

  • Customised software development is crucial for industry in order to precisely map specific requirements, optimise business processes and increase productivity.
  • Technological trends such as Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data are shaping customised industrial software solutions and promoting intelligent networking and process automation.
  • Our partnerships with industrial companies are based on strong communication, understanding and flexibility in order to be able to react quickly to changes and continuously deliver high-quality software.

The importance of customised software development in industry

Customised software development plays a crucial role in industry as it enables companies to precisely map their specific requirements and processes. Standard software often cannot fulfil the specific needs of different industrial sectors. This is why many companies turn to software developers to develop customised solutions that are precisely tailored to their needs.

In addition, customised software development enables:

  • optimise business processes
  • an increase in efficiency in industrial processes
  • precise support of workflows
  • optimisation of processes
  • Increase productivity and efficiency in the industry

The following goals can be achieved through customised functionalities:

Adaptation to specific requirements

Adaptability is one of the most important characteristics of customised software solutions. They enable users to map their specific requirements in the software. This is particularly important in industry, where requirements are often specific and complex and it is often not possible to map them exactly using standard software.

A decisive advantage of customised software development is the ability to fulfil specific requirements that require short response times. This is particularly relevant in the context of Industry 4.0, as companies are increasingly reliant on customised solutions in order to be able to react quickly to changes in their business processes.

Increased efficiency and cost savings

Customised software development can lead to considerable cost savings in industry. By optimising workflows and reducing adaptation times and costs compared to standard solutions, companies can reduce their costs and increase their efficiency.

In addition, customised software development has a positive impact on the ROI and profitability of companies. By customising the software to a company’s specific workflows and processes, repetitive tasks can be automated, saving time and human resources.

Agile project management

Agile project management plays a crucial role in software development. It is an iterative approach that is based on the values and principles of agile software development and enables the continuous provision of functional software in small parts.

Agile project management offers the opportunity to react quickly to changing requirements, customer wishes or market situations. Short iterations and regular feedback allow the project team to respond flexibly to changes and achieve the best possible result.

Our customers in the industry

soxes uses all its expertise to help companies in the industrial sector take an important step towards digitalisation. The Swiss testing and certification company TESTEX has also chosen soxes as a partner for the digitalisation of its processes. A smart application now also supports the company NeoVac ATA AG, which carries out individual measurements and billing for the protection and storage of energy and water.

Another successful partnership: Sulzer AG. It is a globally active Swiss industrial group headquartered in Winterthur. Today, the Sulzer Group employs around 15,000 people and has a turnover of over 3 billion Swiss francs. Sulzer Pumps Ltd. commissioned soxes AG to develop a powerful software solution based on Microsoft Access and Excel in order to improve the project process. The resulting Order Progress Room now coordinates all projects and displays orders clearly, including order number, customer and project name and project manager. The application enables sorting by delivery date and offers a core function for digitising the order and production stages. Based on this order status overview, reports can be generated up to a display size of DIN A0 and can therefore even be printed out as a poster. There is also an import/export interface via Excel to the Sulzer ERP systems. The process has been optimised for worldwide use and is multi-user capable.

As a global corporation with over 150 locations, Glencore has a large number of buildings. soxes was able to support Glencore in optimising and expanding its processes for building management and maintenance processes. The dimensions of the group and the associated complexity made the project a challenge that our team was able to master with the necessary expertise. The aim of the project was to create a platform for the centralised management of all buildings. To this end, a web app was developed in which individual main buildings can be recorded and segmented. The application also allows all devices within a building to be managed. The web application enables Glencore employees to manage the many buildings efficiently and in one central location. In addition, the building portfolio can be flexibly expanded and new requirements can be quickly taken into account. The connection to the alarm system also integrates the Internet of Things into the management process, putting Glencore’s administrative processes at the forefront of the digitalisation race.

soxes re-engineered an existing software solution for the customer Wilux Print. Specifically, the project involved a Delphi application that was installed locally on the end customer’s devices. The application was migrated from the outdated Delphi programming language to the modern alternative C# in combination with .NET. In addition, a solution for the centralised administration of the database was implemented. Previously, each local installation had its own database, which resulted in redundancy and inefficiency. Thanks to the improvements, the application is once again state of the art and can therefore be used again for many years without any problems.
