The industrial and manufacturing sector is synonymous with efficiency, precision and innovation. However, technological progress and growing requirements are presenting companies with new challenges, especially when it comes to the software that controls their production processes.

Over time, challenges arise: increasing security requirements, a shortage of skilled workers or outdated systems that are becoming increasingly expensive to maintain. This is where a reliable partner is needed to ensure stability, support operations and create a solid foundation, whether for modernizing existing solutions or expanding them with new technologies.

Industrial software: challenges and opportunities

  • Individual software development is crucial for industry in order to precisely map specific requirements, optimize business processes and increase productivity.

  • Technological trends such as Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data are shaping customized industrial software solutions and promoting intelligent networking and process automation.

  • Our partnerships with industrial companies are based on communication, understanding and flexibility in order to react quickly to changes and always deliver high-quality software.

  • Modernization of existing systems is essential to replace outdated software, minimize security risks and ensure smooth operation in the long term.

  • Knowledge retention and documentation are crucial, especially when experienced developers leave. A clear software architecture and documented processes preserve know-how.

  • Reliable and powerful software is crucial in manufacturing to keep production processes stable, avoid downtime and ensure the highest quality standards.

The importance of individual software development in the industry

Customized software development plays a crucial role in industry, as it enables companies to precisely map their specific requirements and processes.

Standard software quickly reaches its limits in industry as it cannot map specific processes exactly. Customized solutions adapt precisely, avoid inefficient workarounds and ensure long-term competitiveness.

Advantages of customized software

  • Adaptation to specific requirements
Standard software often reaches its limits in industry. Customized solutions enable the exact mapping of specific and complex processes.
  • Fast response to changes
Flexible software solutions are essential, especially in Industry 4.0, in order to be able to respond to changes in business processes.
  • Increased efficiency & cost savings
Customized software optimizes workflows, reduces adaptation costs and automates repetitive tasks – this increases efficiency and improves ROI.

Typical use cases in industry

  • Production management

Systems for planning and controlling production are often developed in older technologies that are not compatible with modern analysis tools or real-time dashboards.

  • Maintenance and repair systems

Software that monitors machines and plans maintenance cycles. Safety-related applications where errors cannot be tolerated.

  • Logistics and warehouse management

Programs for coordinating material flows and managing inventories are often isolated stand-alone solutions that are not integrated into modern ERP systems.

  • Quality control and documentation

Software for recording and analyzing production data is often directly linked to machines and requires individual adaptations.

Our customers in the industry

soxes uses all of its expertise to help companies in the industrial sector take an important step towards digitalization. The Swiss testing and certification company TESTEX has also chosen soxes as a partner for the digitalization of its processes. A smart application now also supports the company NeoVac ATA AG, which carries out individual measurements and billing for the protection and storage of energy and water.

Efficient project optimization for Sulzer Ltd

Sulzer Ltd, a globally active industrial group based in Winterthur, employs around 15,000 people and has a turnover of over CHF 3 billion. Sulzer Pumps Ltd. commissioned soxes with a software solution based on Microsoft Access and Excel to optimize the project process.

The new application coordinates projects, lists orders clearly and enables sorting according to delivery dates. An Excel interface ensures data exchange with the ERP system. Reports can be generated up to DIN A0. The solution, which is used worldwide, is multi-user capable and digitizes order and production stages.

Optimization of building management at Glencore

As a global corporation with over 150 locations, Glencore has a large number of buildings. soxes supported Glencore in optimizing building management and maintenance. The aim was to create a central platform for managing all buildings. To this end, a web app was developed that makes it possible to efficiently manage the main buildings and their equipment.

The application offers flexible expansion of the building portfolio and quickly takes new requirements into account. By connecting to the alarm system and the Internet of Things (IoT), administrative processes are optimized and Glencore remains at the forefront of digitalization.

Modernization of the Wilux Print software solution

soxes carried out a re-engineering of an existing software solution for the customer Wilux Print. Specifically, the project involved a Delphi application that was installed locally on the end customer’s devices. The application was migrated from the outdated Delphi programming language to the modern alternative C# in combination with .NET.

In addition, a solution for the central administration of the database was implemented. Previously, each local installation had its own database, which resulted in redundancy and inefficiency. Thanks to the improvements, the application is once again state of the art and can therefore be used again for many years without any problems.
