Quality assurance with the help of artificial intelligence
Emmi relies on innovative technologies and methods in its state-of-the-art production facilities, including artificial intelligence. soxes was able to develop a prototype for error detection in the production process of its yoghurt range on behalf of Emmi.
Digitalisation in production
The prototype developed is placed at the end of the production chain and is used for quality assurance. The lids of the sealed yoghurt pots are photographed from above. The images are then passed on from the camera to the application, which checks whether the correct lid has been used for the yoghurt in question.
Technologies used
The prototype is based on Microsoft Custom Vision technology. This is an Azure service for image recognition. The images are stored by the camera on a server where a Python application forwards the images together with the information about the product from a database to the Microsoft Custom Vision service in Azure. There, the images are checked and in case of a mismatch, an error signal is sent via network call to the camera, which takes over all further steps.
Intensive and agile collaboration
With this project, soxes was able to create great added value in a very short time by acting quickly. With a time frame of only 6 weeks, it is essential to use all resources as effectively as possible. soxes was able to offer Emmi an intensive and agile collaboration, which enabled daily coordination and review of progress.
