Quality enhancement for the mobile app thanks to artificial intelligence
Initial situation: process optimization desired
To increase the efficiency of document management, insured persons were given access to their insurance and invoice data via a web portal. With the help of a mobile application developed and implemented by soxes, the insured were able to scan their documents on the move for further processing. In addition, digital document management was implemented via the smartphone. However, depending on the mobile device and the handling of the insured, some scans did not meet the desired standard.
Challenge: Improve the digital scanning function
After the web portal was successfully enhanced by soxes with a functional scan and photo function, the biggest challenge now was to ensure that scanning of files was possible regardless of the age of the devices. In some cases, the quality of the submitted photos was rather suboptimal and insufficient. A clean transfer of invoices is essential and important, as illegible invoices can take up a lot of the employee’s time.
Solution: Improved photo quality thanks to the use of AI.
To solve the described problem pragmatically, soxes integrated an external software development kit (SDK) with the use of artificial intelligence into the existing application. The SDK improves the quality of the scanned images many times over. It enables even low-quality cameras to scan invoices with ease using advanced image processing techniques. Each scan is now modified using AI to ensure ideal quality for further processing and storage.
soxes has developed and enhanced the mobile app for BBT with isolated instances. These are independent and not accessible to anyone. This allows the app to be used as a white label. Means: the app can be used by other insurance companies as their own. This strategic decision in the development process allows our client in the health care sector to minimize development costs.
Result: Digitization of all processes
