Galera Cluster is a module for creating a cluster for MariaDB and MySQL databases. Database clusters ensure better availability, prevent downtime and data loss and offer linear scalability for growing IT infrastructures. In a Galera Cluster, several servers are networked together and the database is operated in parallel, with the aim of increasing computing capacity and availability.

Why does soxes use Galera Cluster?

For larger projects, it can be worthwhile to create a database cluster, as the requirements for its components increase with the complexity of the solution. On the one hand, the response time of the database can increase significantly with an increasing number of parallel accesses. Galera Cluster solves this problem by distributing the load evenly among the individual instances of the MariaDB or MySQL database. In addition, if individual instances of the server fail, there is no downtime and no data is lost, as the remaining instances continue to operate.

Where did soxes use Galera?

For example, soxes used a Galera cluster for the MySQL database in the alarmDispatcher from TUS. Performance and availability are very important for this complex solution. For this reason, the database was divided into several instances in order to avoid performance drops and downtimes.
