Internet of Things in commodity trading
As an internationally active group with over 150 locations, Glencore faces the challenge of efficiently managing a large number of buildings. soxes has supported Glencore in optimizing and expanding its building management and maintenance processes.
Smart web application
The aim was to develop a central platform for managing all buildings. The new web app makes it possible to record main buildings and manage all devices within these buildings. Each device can be linked to important information such as service and maintenance appointments.
Technologies used
A technology stack comprising Angular, Python and MySQL was used for the development. The backend was created with the Python framework Django and provides the user interface (Angular) with the necessary information from the MySQL database. The web app runs in the Microsoft Azure Cloud.
Digitalization with IoT
The web application enables Glencore employees to efficiently control building management from a central location. The building portfolio can be expanded flexibly and new requirements can be implemented quickly. By integrating the alarm system, the Internet of Things (IoT) is incorporated into the management process, putting Glencore at the forefront of digitalization.
