In recent years, industrial companies have changed fundamentally thanks to rapid technological progress. The term Industry X.0 is a result of rapid technological development. With the help of this naming, it should be prevented that, unlike with “Industry 4.0”, there is no risk of being outdated again shortly after the introduction. Digitization will not only be limited to the automation of production. It will result in fundamental restructuring in your company and offer great growth opportunities.

Reasons you have to adapt Industry X.0

1. Efficiency is depleted

Industry 4.0 as a term includes the digitalisation process of industrial production. The focus of Industry 4.0 is on increasing efficiency in the production process. The integration of modern information and communication technology in industry enables a new level of self-organisation of processes. However, due to rapid technological developments, conventional company structures and production methods are gradually reaching their limits. Industry X.0 addresses this problem and does not only refer to increasing efficiency. Industry X.0 reaches at the root of the company and attempts to completely restructure and transform industry across the board.

2. More breadth in digitisation

Think of Industry X.0 as the next step in the digital revolution of industry. After Industry 4.0 focused on improving the inner workings of a company, Industry X.0 makes every effort to grow companies across the board without losing the efficiency gained. New technologies enable the next step in the industrial revolution and a rethinking of what and how to produce.

3. Development of new business models

The development of new business models is necessary and is, among other things, the focus of Industry X.0. Thanks to new technology standards such as AI, blockchain or robotics, innovation can take place at a new level. New products, customer groups and distribution channels can be created.

4. Create digital ecosystems

Digital ecosystems can take place at different levels and in different forms. They can be set up within a company, but also across companies. For example, if machines, warehouses, software and buildings are connected by IIoT to form a huge production network, work steps in the value chains can be perfectly coordinated. In the event of delays, workloads could be automatically shut down and maintenance carried out, for example. Thanks to the linking of production units, AI, machine learning and more, a digital ecosystem can be created that works sustainably and efficiently.

5. Supporting technologies

Industry X.0 projects use Industry Internet of Things (IIoT), Artificial Intelligence, Cloud and more. Big Data is also important due to the high flow of data. These technologies serve as clear drivers of innovation in today’s world. The combination of IoT, AI, Cloud and co. offer enormous potential as a platform for influential projects. The adaptation has only just begun. For this reason, it is to be expected that the technologies will continue to improve and methods for linking them will mature.
