The digital Webercard

Mode Weber now has a customer card, the so-called Webercard. As soon as purchases reach the total value of 1,000 francs, the customer receives 50 francs cash in hand.

Mobile app for customer card

soxes was commissioned by Mode Weber to package the popular Webercard in a smartphone app for Android and iOS. The proven principle is quite simple: all purchases are synchronised with the smartphone thanks to the connection to the merchandise management system. When the total amount of 1,000 francs is reached, the customer can generate a credit note (cash bonus) for the cash payment of 50 francs in the form of a QR code.

Personalised functions at a glance

Within the app, the user also has the option of viewing his profile information and changing it at any time. The current account balance shows how much the customer still has to spend to receive their Cash Bonus. The bonus received can then be activated and redeemed on the app at any time. The app also allows the fashion store to contact its customers at any time via push message and send them further personalised bonus coupons.

Technologies used

In order to provide the app with the necessary data, soxes designed and implemented the backend of the app. The information is retrieved from the Mode Weber ERM (merchandise management system) and made available to the app via an interface. The backend provides further functions such as bonus management, push message management, etc. and is only available to selected Mode Weber employees.

This project is based on the Python programming language and uses Apache as a web server. In order to make optimal use of existing resources, reduce programming hours and save costs, soxes used the open source framework web2py for the implementation, which is itself written in Python. Wherever possible and reasonable, soxes uses open source technology.
