Digitalisation in the school system
Innovative web application for the BWS Limmattal
The school administration of the BWS Limmattal used an MS Access solution for many years. This managed student-, parent-, class- and course-data as well as timetables, certificates and reports. The maintenance could no longer be guaranteed due to staff changes. As requirements increased , further development became all the more difficult and the need for a flexible, online solution came up.
Challenges
As the knowledge of the old solution had not been passed on in detail, soxes analysed the system in detail in order to transfer all functions and data cleanly into a new, web-based solution. The aim was to simplify the existing processes and create a system that could be flexibly expanded.
Solution & result: Modern web solution for BWS Limmattal
With the new web solution, soxes has replaced the existing MS Access application of BWS Limmattal with a modern, digital platform. The result:
- Centralised, web-based solution: Previous data and processes were seamlessly integrated into a centralised, online system.
- User-friendly registration portal: Learners, teachers and the administration can register and manage themselves easily and securely.
- Improved onboarding: New learners can be integrated more quickly and efficiently thanks to optimised structures.
- Automated timetables: Learners and teachers automatically receive a personalised timetable.
- Efficient absence management: Teachers can record absences directly in the system, which reduces the administrative workload.
- Modern UI design: The user interface has been redesigned to make it appealing and user-friendly.
- Future-proof and flexible: The new solution can be customised and expanded at any time.
After the development, soxes takes over maintenance and support of the web solution, based on a joint SLA for optimal support and continuous improvement.
Special features of the development
When developing the new web solution for BWS Limmattal, we used our KUBE-X development platform to directly implement several key functions, including user management, role-based access control, master data management, audit logs, UI/UX templates, CI/CD pipelines and RabbitMQ (message broker). As a result, soxes’ developers saved 30% of the development time and were able to concentrate on the individual requirements of BWS.
How did we achieve this? We know from over 600 successful projects that up to 70% of the code contains recurring functions. This is because even customised software is based on common standards that are required for almost every project. So with KUBE-X, we develop faster and more cost-efficiently by reusing standardised processes and modules. Important components that are required for almost every software solution can therefore be implemented directly without any loss of quality.
