MyPortaNet
Monitoring windows, doors and gates with the Internet of Things
soxes has developed a digitalised measurement and information system for windows, doors and gates for PortaNet AG. The system can be used to digitally manage windows, doors and gates. The application runs entirely in the cloud and works with low-power/wide-area radio technologies.
Development of smart application
The MyPortaNet application automatically measures, controls and manages the entire usage process of windows, doors and gates. It acts on the basis of collected information, fault messages and maintenance activities. If, for example, maintenance work needs to be carried out or doors are mistakenly open, a service requirement or alarm is signalled. Based on the collected information, companies can organise their processes more efficiently, thus saving time, costs and increasing their security.
Technologies used
The Internet of Things system works via edge devices that are placed on the components (doors, gates, etc.) and send information to the core system. For example, if an alarm is triggered, it is forwarded to the system and displayed on the end users’ devices. To keep the application highly available, cluster technologies such as Redis Sentinel or Galera Cluster are used. The back-end was developed with the Python framework Django and also works in the cluster. An Angular user interface is used as the front end. The TypeScript framework is powerful and therefore ideally suited for the application. The components are all operated with containers in the cloud.
Competitive advantage through digitalisation
PortaNet AG recognised the pulse of the times early on and accordingly focused on the digitalisation process. In addition to innovative and helpful products, this also brings clear competitive advantages for the company itself.
